the beginning of great phrases
I've added a new category called Great Phrases because I want to write down witty things I hear, whether it's at work from my sales mates or out on the street. So without further ado, first great phrase:
"He better get onboard with the right ticket or the train is going to leave without him."
- Sales rep referring to a peon in relation to an executive decision

Every dang time I go away from my blog and come back and write something new, I have to write so much just so my freakin page looks right. So I'm basically just going to babble and babble and babble to fill up space so you can stare at the wonders of my website and marvel in its grandeur.
But to keep you super pumped up for more blog entries to come, a few things I need to write about still.
1) I started taking classes at AADA. Excellent!
2) Internet Poker sux. too much fun. but it sux. but i got free chips out of it!
3) hrm, cd player is busted so I'm thinking about putting together an XBOX media Center with an LCD and putting all our cds on that. pump it through my stereo - that would be sweet.

4) I needed a tux for a wedding this saturday. Of course I waited until today to get it. But my timing was perfect, sorta. Had I showed up at Men's Wearhouse 30 minutes later, I wouldn't have been able to get a tux by Saturday. I had to pay a $20 rush fee for the tux, but I got one. another $20 bux down the drain. along with my poker money. damn gambling.
5) I found my christmas present. Qmotions Golf. Watch the video and get excited. I tested my full swing of my driver in my apartment and I had no problems.
ok, so 4 and 5 I don't have to write anymore about, until I get 5 for Christmas. 3 is for later. probably something I shouldn't waste my time on. So my next entries will be on 1 and 2. Acting Acting Acting! and boo Poker.
argh, and i was doing so well…
I had such a good string of posts going for a few days in early September. What happened? I'm not sure. I think I found some other things that are taking up my time - a few that really should take up more of my time and others that shouldn't.
Good things taking more of my time
----------------------------------
Bad things I'm wasting my time on
---------------------------------
- Internet Poker
- Looking for deals - but not to flip and sell but to buy and keep, ugh
- other useless internet stuff...
Guess it looks like I should shut my computer off.... Good idea, good night.

my, my. what a busy weekend. too many things to go into detail about - especially while watching Whose Line Is It - but there's a lot. Friday night, got to catch Evening Stars at the River to River Festival presented by American Express (give me something for this free publicity dammit). Savion Glover performed and he was awesome as usual. (Edit: While looking for his picture, I found Savior Glover in the Britannica Encyclopedia... MY MAN IS IN THE ENCYCLOPEDIA?!?! i didn't know anyone used encyclopedias anymore. ok, continue) Actually my second time seeing him and every time I see performances like that, it just makes me want to get up and dance. not really. well, sorta. I have always wanted to try dance - and just to be that good at something is insane, to top it all off. They had some give away goodies, like cards and stuff. All while we had a nice picnic with some tasty sandwiches the wifey made, and some tasty side dishes. Good times.
Saturday was excellent as well (Richard Simmons on Whose Line right now... weird). Celebrated a friend's birthday by playing Texas Hold Em and then headed over to the Bohemian Beer Garden in Queens for libations. As much as I love playing Hold Em, I suck so bad. I had zero luck all day, and eventually finished in the middle of the pack. I think I'm just a big wuss - somehow not understanding the meaning of the word "gamble"... On the upside, Sooz rocked it on her first time out playing, finishing fourth. Awesome play for a rookie - I've decided to stay at home and have the babies so she can go and play on the tour. My babies will be beautiful.
Biergarten was awesome. I was a little worried at first because I hate, HATE places that have a line for the men's room. It just means there's no stalls, or only one, and it's definitely not clean. Me and my fragile stomach need nice bathrooms to truly enjoy a bar and drink heavy. But while waiting in line to go to the bathroom, some guy was kind enough to show me the secret bathroom that was downstairs through the restaurant - that was completely empty, so much cleaner - and that naturally greenlit the way for BEERS. We basically stuck with this one beer all night - Brouczech - it was a sweet dark beer that was good to start but after a lot of it, it got a little old. Too much sweet can start getting to one. Plus I was just sort of getting a headache.
![]() right... I'M hitting on YOU... |
There was a lot of good conversation, basically a good time all around with great friends. There was some good entertainment towards the night, with some crazy chugging contests with some unbelievable chuggers - I prefer to sip my fine brew, thanks. Also, there was this one girl who had all the guys hitting on her. So it would seem. However, we did get the report that SHE was the one hitting on everyone and basically whoever was the last to leave the table was the one who got hit on. Unfortunately, she was not Josie Maran (how you doin) so nobody reciprocated. Well, some actually did, which was strange but whatever. So me and Mike when in to investigate this phenomenon, with the long distance observation of his girlfriend Sav and Gene. She was with one other guy at the table so I sat across from her and Mike sat next to the other guy. I IMMEDIATELY got a phone call - turns out from Gene, who informed me that I was a puss and should have sat in between the girl and the guy. And he was COMPLETELY right. A missed opportunity for some hilarity - and I still feel awful about it. So it basically turned out to be a non-event after that - nothing interesting happened, no fun, no ha-has.
The night ended with us driving a blitzed, but victorious in chugging, Sam and (sober?) Stacy home. He was feeling bad and I was feeling bad for him. The sun will shine tomorrow, Sammy.
Today, went up to Poughkeepsie for my cousin's baby's christening. What an amazing looking boy - so cute, and well behaved. My mom picked Sooz and I up from the train station and we drove the rest of the way - got there late so showed up at the reception place. Food was tasty. Filipino food always is. Best part was seeing family I haven't seen for awhile, like my aunt, and two of my cousins, the baby's mom and my cousin Mark, and spending time with my mom too. It was good to see everyone and catch up because we never make time even though it should be fairly easy. However, see title. But seriously, it was a great weekend - spread evenly across everyone, Sooz time on Friday, friend time on Saturday, family time on Sunday. And beautiful weather. Great weekend.
P.S. I guess I'm starting to use names now... let me know if you want me to stop. even though the people named don't read my blog. so you have no rights here.
Readers Unite!

|
I have 4 frequent readers of my blog so when we break that momentous barrier of 5 readers, I will give ALL of my readers their choice of:
1) glass of orange juice
2) one tablet of whatever medicine I have in my cabinet - Benadryl, Imodium, Claritin, Cialis (not really, but I can get it - I personally never EVER need it - how you doin?)
3) a post dedicated to them, complete with their picture and clever caption, written by - well, hell, we'll just open up the caption writing to the 4 other readers! YAY!
So let's get that 5th reader! Spread the news!
Organisation
The Palmpilot I bought off uBid is on it's way. Woohoo! New toy. New old toy. It's an older model Clie, the TJ-37. good thing Sony has decided to stop making Clies. Yay. But I need a palm pilot, I think. I need to start organizing my life because if I don't, I'll just end up wasting time, playing NBA Live '04 Dynasty Mode forever and ever - which could be cool as well, but not that productive.
The Clie kinda has sucky battery life so that's going to suck but it's got a camera, color screen! (i was still using my Palm III), and other crap too. I'm also trying ACT out to see if it can help me get organized. I was thinking of putting my acting stuff in there as 'Sales Opportunities'. They say you have to treat acting like a business so...
Sales Opp: Role of Jimmy Izumida in American Pie 4
Sales Amt: $5 and a copy of the DVD when it goes straight there for release
Expected Close Date: May never get out of development hell - probably where it should stay
Sales Stage: Why make American Pie 4?
Next Sales Stage: Why watch American Pie 4?
Probability: How do you put a number on "When Hell rises to the Earth?"
Pain points: I'm not Japanese. Can I be an Izumida? Can I be truthful to the character? I'll need to create Jimmy's objective and superobjective around why he feels like having sex with oboe. Challenging character - will have to dig deep emotionally.
If you don't understand any of the above, read the extended entry.
Gettin’ Paid… maybe
So I responded to this casting email yesterday calling for 'featured extras' for some US Open thing they were going to be filming in Rockefeller Center on Tuesday, Wed, Thursday. Well, the only day left, obviously, was Thursday - I had no idea what to expect but they were going to pay $10/hour for no more than 5 hours of shooting starting at 5:30pm. I had nothing to do really so I replied back saying I was avail. Another shady email reply said to report at 50th b/w 5th and 6th and ask for "Momentum Media" or something - not detailing WHO to ask or whether there would be a booth there or what. shady.
So I was at work, and I was going to be lazy and not go because it looked like the clouds were getting ready to dump on NYC but I went anyways. I figured I was going to do nothing at home, so why not go get paid to do nothing. So I walked over there and it turned out that there was a HUGE setup for the US Open sponsored by AMEX. I mean, there were some tennis courts, and a Speed Serve booth, "Take Your Picture with the Pros" booth, plus a grandstand and 'lawn' seating in front of this massive Jumbotron showing the USOpen. (side note: you could sit on the special reserved lawn chair section if you flashed an AMEX card. cha ching!)
So I walked around a bit just to see what was going on - and what I could possibly have been getting paid to do before I signed up for it. There was also a stage below the jumbotron with some band with a good-lookin girl on the lead vocals. Didn't recognize her and the soundcheck guys were suckin it so I couldn't hear her either. But the band sounded ok so I was just going to stand there and listen. But, again, I could be getting paid to just be around here so I go to check in.

|
There was a crowd of people around the corner surrounding some lady with a clipboard. We all sign in - turns out they are going to pay us to 'get up close to the stage and have a great time listening to the band'. Um, ok - I haven't had any training in standing up close and rocking to a band but turns out, I'm a natural. So we listened to her - the girl's name is Jem and she had a really nice voice. Problem was, well, a) sound people sucked it - could barely hear her, b) the type of music didn't seem to really fit her voice. She had a really sweet Welsh voice, similar to other female Irish singers, and it was terrific but not a rockin voice and I think that's what the music was going for. The songs weren't really all that fascinating but they did have a good groove to it. One song, I think had approx. 3 notes.
So she played 3 songs, one of which was Live for TV - god knows what channel - I think USA. We, namely the paid professionals, needed to be real loud for live TV, which I think we accomplished. I honestly don't think they needed to pay for anyone to listen to them. There were plenty of people around listening - I guess they just wanted people to pack it in tight. But, hey, hopefully I get paid for it so I bitch not.
I signed out, took the bus home and watched Signs, then the premiere of Joey. Both not bad, Signs ended weak and Joey was pretty consistently funny. Both casts making more money than my measly $10/hour today. But everyone starts somewhere, no?
The clever is gone… or running low
I find it hard to update this website because, dammit, I feel the need to be so clever and funny - but I'll just update it with stuff I do, opinions, etc. and if the funny, the clever should show their face, so be it.
I went to "audition" for the Evening Program at AADA (American Academy of Dramatic Arts) tonight. The program coordinator was pretty nice - had to wait for a few people ahead of me but then I got my turn. Talked to her abit about my experience, what I was looking for. Had to do a cold reading from a book she gave me - it was a pretty good passage from a play called "The Valiant". It was pretty low pressure. Right after, she said it usually takes awhile to decide whether you are in or not, but they are getting close to the start date of the class (Sept 20th), so she accepted me right on the spot. Crazy, no?
I'm a tad concerned because I asked her how many people are in the class and it's only 16. So it's getting close to starting time, I come in audition, and I'm automatically accepted? So a) I was good enough to get in the program or b) they are just trying to get people into the program to fill it up. Maybe... MAYBE, they actually have 2 classes (3 hour evenings split into 1.5 hours so maybe we switch teachers or something), so 32 people - I can live with that then. or maybe i'm just so damn good, that I got into the program - even without having done anything acting related in awhile. I'll buy that last part.
But now I have to decide if I can handle the schedule. It would be 2 nights a week, 3 hours each evening. I told her that my work schedule requires me to travel a lot and I already know of plenty of trips coming up where I'd have to be away. I'm going to really have to plan it out so if this is something I want to do, I can make both my job and the class work. Can't miss too many classes, can't miss too much work. miss work, no money, no class. miss class, stay stuck as an SC forever. yay. the outlook looks good kids.
bye now.
