YOU MY BOY!
My sister had her baby boy on Friday, in the AM. What an awesome kid. I'm so happy for her and my bro-in-law - she looked great and she was a trooper getting that dang kid out.
He's not too shabby lookin either. So innocent and so tiny. I was just really happy for them. Did I cry when I saw him? um.... maybe. But what an awesome kid! He also helped me pick up my game for the next two performances of Magnificent Mr. Vincent. Not sure how, but I owe my good performances to him.

Show 3 and 4
This show is getting better and better. I'm looking forward to next weekend's runs because they are just going to be fun. A bunch of the kinks have been worked out. There's still some stuff that can't be solved without major re-thinking - but we have definitely improved the show pretty quickly.
Friday was a decent crowd. It was the first performance coming off the first night review. It was a pretty good show. I felt good doing my monologue - probably the best I have done it yet. I attribute it to my new nephew (I'll post separately about him). He made me all emotional when I saw him - so I used that to get me where I needed to be in the monologue. We also had a reviewer that night from Off Off Online but that review isn't out yet. We'll see how that turns out. I gave 100% that night though so whatever happens is out of my control.
Saturday was the big snowstorm. So we ended up canceling the afternoon show. People were scheduled to come in from Jersey and Westchester and the snow just kept them from coming. We did, however, go with the evening show. Thanks to my friends. And a few other audience members. But most of my friends, who are in the city, were more than happy to brave the elements to see our show. I'm glad they did - I was able to get more feedback - including from my wife who has seen it twice now. She could really see the difference. YIPPEE!
Anyways, off to prepare for today's show. And when I say prepare, I mean, eat 4 hours before the show. food too close to the show = stomach ache = me running off the stage = bad news.
Show 2
Tonight's show was kinda low energy. I'm not sure what it is. I'm sure it's partly that we are still getting everything squared away - partly because the audiences have been small so far. I think that will change though - some of us (hi there!) have told people to wait a few runs before coming. So it should start improving tomorrow and onwards.
Tomorrow - we have to bring it. 2 reviewers in the audience. I think I'm going to try and not speak to anyone backstage. That way I can keep focusing and not get distracted by anything. Focus, man, FOCUS!
damn - i know i shouldn't have done it - but I did. I just read our first review of the show. She had some positive and negative comments about me - and I'll just chalk that up to "feedback." It's always tough hearing criticism but I can see some of her points so I can attempt to present a better show.
k, i'm going to bed. just finished chatting with Rodney about it and he made me feel a bit better about it. thanks rodney.
Magnificent Mr. Vincent First Run
I must say - I was quite impressed at how smoothly tonight's show went. We definitely had our problems getting everyone together on things and getting crew to help with set changes, and lights and cues were kinda last minute as well. But the show definitely went better than I was expecting.
Unfortunately, the first show was a good dress rehearsal. Even though we all knew that that's what it was going to be. Ok, fine - then all is good. I think maybe one more show might be a little choppy but after that - actors, crew, lights, sound will all start figuring out where we need to be and what we need to do when.
The crew was pretty awesome today. I mean, we were all a little crazed and lost but they really tried to do things as fast as possible so mad credit to them. yeah, g, word, holla front, fantastic.
So i have no energy to comment anymore because I have to be up at 7 to drive to Allentown for a 10-12 meeting then drive back to New York for the show.
Even though this was our first show, for a few seconds there, I was starting to get sad that it will be over pretty quickly. Two weeks, then that's it. hrm, sad.
Misery Loves Company?
Ok, I'm not getting pleasure out of anyone's pain but there is something I wanted to share with you guys and to see if you agree. What is wrong with the picture below.

PeopleSoft employees embrace outside of the company's headquarters in Pleasanton, Calif. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2004. Oracle Corp. is expected to announce the layoff plans for its PeopleSoft takeover after the stock market closes. The purge is expected to eliminate anywhere from 4,500 to 6,000 jobs - about 9 to 11 percent of the combined work force" |
FLOWERS? CANDLES? come on people... there are worse things in life. worse things in the world. get a grip! PEOPLE! my buddy suggested that I don't understand because I am taking their jobs. hey, if they weren't so busy lighting candles, they might have been one of the 7,000 people that actually kept their jobs.
But I supposed it is the death of Peoplesoft. Weird to think. No more Peoplesoft - ever again. Anywhere. ok, so i forgive a few candles. bet that sign is gone already.
It’s Never Too Late
Inspirational story? Yes. True story? Yes. A Moment In Time? Yes. (dammit - guess what song I have in my head now?)
I did this US Open thing awhile back (see post here) and I never actually went to the place to get paid. It was soooo far out of the the way (443 Greenwich St - far right?) so I figured I'll get there when I get there. I kept trying to get over there but never got the chance. Finally, I was around that area for a demo yesterday and I was like, hrm, I'll just stop in. It's only been 4 MONTHS now... they must still have my money.

So I find my way to their offices and get up there and this lady says, "You here for the NYU casting?" Stupid me says no. Explain to her that I wants my money for the US Open thing, and she still had it. While she's looking around for the list of names and things like that for the US Open event, the blood rushes to my brain and activates the last surviving cell in my stupid head and prompts me to say "I COULD be here for the NYU casting..."
Turns out it was some casting for NYU Continuing Education - a print ad. She goes "You might be too young but let's go". SWEET! So she takes my info and headshot - everybody on the list has an agent - like Abrams or what not. So I'm sure I won't get a call - but hey - 10 bucks and a casting - i like that. Then I proceeded to use the 10 bucks for a cab ride to practice because I was running late for rehearsal. Idiot. The procrastination got me 10 bucks and an audition but then lost me the 10 bucks. AND - I had just bought a 7-day unlimited Metrocard. Who's the dummy? I know.. it's a tough question.
Good News All AROUND yo!
Rejoice Rejoice! I have readerS!!! yes, that's right, i have >1 reader now. I guess I always had greater than 1 reader because there was myself, and Calvin. Thanks Cal! But now I have redsykora. You rock, baby.

AND. I love sales. got my bonus number today for Q2. BONUS!!!!! it was nice... guess i won't leave any time soon. the original thought was to quit if the going was bad, then focus all my time on acting. although - if i was able to juggle my acting career and my job, why the hell not keep going with both? WORD!!!
times are good. good times. time = good. Rejoice. argh, now I have "O Come O Come Emanuel" in my head...
Add-ons
So I found a few things to add to my website - or eventually add... I've added a Tagboard to the right. I figured it would be a quicker way for you guys to comment on the website rather than having to dig through the comments section. Feel free to also comment but if you want to just shout out (that's what my people say when you want to say hello to someone), just "tag me".
found this particular one at http://www.tag-board.com. found some others that I think are free-ware, might be a little better. I always want something that I can maintain myself. found this too http://chatter.flooble.com/ which could be free.
just like in the early days - surfing around for other people do is the easiest way to build a cool website. so here's a link that i found (i post this more for me than you, but feel free to copy it) which gives me some thoughts for blog add-ons: http://www.pinoyblog.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t13.html
Look for more good things to come. Like photos. I know you want photos. not those photos.
Dreams, Big Dreams
Who knows... one day - this could be me. er.. us. you and my faithful readers. reader? i like to think readers.
