Boatload of Traveling

I've been traveling a lot for work lately. While it's fun being on expense, racking up major points on airlines and hotels - oh, and of course all the fun stuff like work and such - it's really draining on the body. It doesn't seem like much to take a taxi to get on a plane to get into a rental car and stay in a hotel then go to work then return the car to hop on another plane back home via taxi (I'm going to say that that passes the run-on sentence checker). But it does affect your health. Especially when you are sick to begin with. Or you inhale someone's infected recycled air in the flying tube in the sky. Think about that for a bit and it'll give you lovely thoughts about air travel.
Not only does the actual physical activity of traveling wear me down but the stress of juggling my job (along with all this travel), my acting career, an impending move to the DC area, and my marriage (not necessarily in that order!). But they are all high priority to me and sorting everything out is pain. One wonders how, as children, we have such a crazy active schedule (at least I did), with every minute of the day jam packed with some outlet - whether it was violin, piano, Junior Achievement, track, homework, and the all important napping and eating. I just don't even know how I did it. And this was all just after school stuff so why can't I do that now? Much like school, my day ends at 3:20. Just kidding. Actually, I don't even remember when my school day ended. 3:20 sounds awful early to me. OK, let's say 4:30. Track, til about 6 let's say. Home for dinner. Then homework. Or straight to orchestra practice. Man, that's nuts.
I long for the days when I can pack my day with ultra-productive work, executing on all these crazy money-making schemes I have in my head. But, as you know, I barely even have time to update this blog.

it IS a raceway…

This story is too much. I was going to bed last night with the nest on and caught a brief about some "laptop stampede". Thanks to the power of Google, here's the article. You know I'm all for a bargain - so why wasn't I invited?!
STAMPEDE!!!!!

tipping

Unfortunately I don't have polling capability right now on my website - generally because I don't have many frequent readers and the poll would consist of 2, MAYBE 3 people. But I'll take the informal poll anyway on this topic and you may feel free to comment.
So we get our laundry sent out because we don't have any laundry in our building and we're too lazy to go out and do it ourselves. So it's a pretty nice service, can get expensive - but you pay the premium to have the comfort of having someone else do you wash. So here's where the title of this post comes in - tipping the guy that drops the laundry off. And this goes in general for any sort of delivery tipping.
I used to give 15% tip - because that's what THE MAN tells me to do. and no, THE MAN is not my wife, you snide bastard. But lately, people have been telling me to give 10% and sometimes, unnamed parties.. will only give the guy a buck, on a laundry bill that is 20 bucks or so - for you math geniuses out there, 5%. That just seems so wrong. I like to give at least 2 bucks - even though if someone gave me two bucks to carry their laundry a block - that might be a lucrative career path. Volume can't be great but dollar per load is pretty high.
*** I hate writing drafts and not finishing them because I come back later and never know what brainwave I was surfing that day. Plus, I'm watching Law and Order right now so I am TOTALLY engrossed in the Order part right now. ***
Anyways, I'm gonna try to do 2-3 bucks from now on for food delivery. I never did write that bed delivery story... which incidently has to do with tipping. One day.

engaged

no silly. you know that i'm married already. but my friend Christine got engaged tonight. I'm very happy for her - it was perfect timing too because it was her 30th birthday party so she got engaged then had a nice celebration for it. It also works out for her (now) fiance since he didn't have to get her a 30th birthday gift. that is a most excellent idea.
but we've been waiting for our friends' who are in a position to get engaged to finally get engaged and it should be pretty exciting times. I'm glad she's getting to move on to the next stage of her life. marriage is cool. (and my wife doesn't even read this blog!)

every day

every night I mean to update the blog, but as always, i find something else to do. watch tv, play poker...
at least i'm staying on top of sending my headshots out, albeit, I get to it at 4 in the morning.
i have plenty to write about, material is not the problem. it's probably the effort to write it here. but i promise more good stuff soon.
